...a very interesting question. Well why not! I was previously running a similar business for another reasonably high profile organisation until the pandemic hit us really hard. We were forced to cancel all our planned trips, many of which were overseas and all domestic operations were closed, this meant no income for the business and therefore a decision needed to be made.
Once the initial shock wore off (which took a couple of weeks) and taking some time to digest all that was going on both here and worldwide, with the encouragement of friends and fellow trekking comrades I was presented with the idea that I could create a business that fuelled my passion.
I have been able to put my 'flavour' to an outdoor adventure operation that empowers women to seek out and embrace nature, to take on challenges both big and small that take them out of their comfort zones and consequently breathe life once more into their sense of well being and self worth. Not to mention build amazing friendships and create special memories along the way.
Having a wealth of knowledge and experience as a physical educator, personal trainer, coach and facilitator. As well as practical experience in hiking, guiding, ocean swimming, surfing, kayaking, abseiling and rock climbing (to name a few activities!). I am an Australian International Alpine skier having raced and competed internationally for Australia throughout the 1980's, representing at the 1988 Winter Olympics in Canada. I am also a seasoned Ironman Triathlete having completed many full and half Ironman distance races. Recently taking up trail running and marathon running with a number of these events featuring on the BUA calendar in the coming months.
In short, if it's outdoors and features movement of any kind, then I am there!!
