Adventures that allow you to BU
Have you ever wondered, “isn’t there more to life than this?” This is the whisper of adventure calling you to seek out challenges and find the exuberance of life.
One person who knows this call – and has answered it multiple times – is founder, trainer and guide, Maryanne Spiers. Maryanne has truly mastered the art of living an adventurous life. She has been an Olympic downhill skier, the first female professional lifeguard in Australia and a World Champion Triathlete.
She has completed expeditions to The Haute Route in France, Mt Blanc, Three Peaks and Cape to Cape in Australia and more recently the New York Marathon, Ultra-Trail Australia and The Haute Craigieburn on Mountain Touring Skis in New Zealand!
Maryanne has guided many women-only trips, including snowshoeing in Kosciuszko National Park, Mt Solitary in the Blue Mountains, the Walls of Jerusalem in Tasmania, Jatbula and Larapinta Trail in the Northern Territory and overseas to Greece.
Now, she brings adventure to your doorstep, beckoning you to leave your comfort zone, live your life out loud and experience all that nature has to offer. Will you answer the call? Find out more about our upcoming adventures.
Two minutes with Maryanne
To help you get to know your trainer and guide a bit better, we sat down with Maryanne to ask her some questions that we thought you’d like to know.
Where is your favourite place to travel?
Italy and France. Though all of Europe really and my favourite ski resort is Chamonix in France.
What adventure would you most like to go on but haven't yet? Trekking in Nepal and Antarctica.
What has been the biggest challenge you've had to overcome?
Recovering from a serious knee injury when I was 21, to compete once again at International Alpine Ski Races and ultimately represent Australia at the Winter Olympics.
What's the most interesting thing about you that we wouldn't learn from your bio?
If I told you, then I would have to kill you! Seriously though, maybe that one is best left to a fireside chat over a beverage. I do have a sense of humour and am an introvert.
What advice would you give to your younger self?
You will find your place and don’t stress about the small stuff.
What are three things you couldn't live without?
The ocean, movement and connection.
Who do you most admire - and why?
Nelson Mandela – He overcame adversity and make a massive difference in other people’s lives.
What is a quote you live by?
“I have walked that long road to freedom. I have tried not to falter; I have made missteps along the way. But I have discovered the secret that after climbing a great hill, one only finds that there are many more hills to climb. I have taken a moment here to rest, to steal a view of the glorious vista that surrounds me, to look back on the distance I have come. But I can only rest for a moment, for with freedom come responsibilities, and I dare not linger, for my long walk is not ended.” ― Nelson Mandela.
